Light fixture installation in Austin, TX

We hang, replace and lay out interior light fixtures across Austin and the Hill Country, from a single flush mount to a two-story foyer chandelier, with a flat-rate price you approve before any work begins.

What it is

Light fixture installation means mounting and wiring interior fixtures to a code-rated electrical box: chandeliers, pendants, flush and semi-flush mounts, wall sconces, vanity lights and under-cabinet lighting. It also covers adding a new fixture location where none exists today and planning a room's lighting in layers of ambient, task and accent light. We confirm the box can carry the weight, verify the wiring and switching, set the fixture level and secure, and leave the room controlled the way you want it.

This is the right call if:

  • You bought a chandelier, pendant or light fixture and need it hung safely on a box rated for its weight.
  • You have a two-story foyer, stairwell or vaulted room where the fixture is too high to reach from a normal ladder.
  • You want to add a fixture where there is only a ceiling with no box, or move a light to center it over an island or table.
  • A room feels flat or dim and you want a lighting plan that layers overhead, task and accent light.
  • You are updating vanity lights, sconces or kitchen under-cabinet lighting during a remodel.
  • An existing fixture flickers, hums or hangs crooked and you want it checked and reset.
What we do

Lighting installation options

01

Chandeliers, pendants and high-ceiling work

We hang chandeliers and pendants of all sizes, including tall foyer, stairwell and vaulted-ceiling installs that need proper lift access and a fan or fixture box rated for the load. For an island or dining table we set the height and spacing so the light sits where it should and the box carries the weight without sagging over time.

02

Flush mounts, sconces and vanity lights

Swapping a flush or semi-flush mount, wall sconce or bathroom vanity light is a common same-day job, but it still needs a solid box, correct mounting strap and clean grounding. We match the fixture to the box and the switching so it sits flush and level, not pulled off the ceiling or wall.

03

Under-cabinet and accent lighting

Under-cabinet lighting turns a dim counter into real task light for cooking and prep, and accent lighting picks out shelving, art or a feature wall. We run the low-voltage or line-voltage supply, hide the wiring and tie it to its own switch or dimmer so the kitchen is not all-or-nothing.

04

New fixture locations

When you want a light where there is only bare ceiling, we fish wiring from a nearby circuit, cut in a code-rated box and add the switch leg. We confirm the circuit has room on the load before adding the fixture so you are not tripping a breaker later.

05

Whole-room lighting plans

For a remodel or a new build we design the room in layers: ambient light to fill the space, task light where you work, and accent light for depth. We map fixture placement, switching and dimming zones so each layer is controlled on its own instead of one harsh overhead.

Why not to wait

What waiting can cost you

A heavy fixture on the wrong box falls

A standard lighting box is rated for a light fixture, not a 40 pound chandelier or a fan. Hanging heavy fixtures on an unrated box lets the box pull loose over months until the whole thing drops, which is why we confirm and replace the box before we hang.

High-ceiling work is the wrong place to improvise

Foyer and stairwell fixtures sit well above a normal ladder reach, and a makeshift setup on the stairs is how falls and dropped fixtures happen. Proper lift access keeps both the installer and your finished surfaces out of harm's way.

Guessing at the switch leg leads to rework

Adding a fixture without confirming the circuit load, the neutral and the switch wiring often means opening the wall twice. We plan the run first so the job is done once and the wiring is right behind the drywall.

How it works

Our process

  1. 01

    Walkthrough and plan

We look at the fixtures, the ceilings and the switching you have, talk through where you want light and how you want it controlled, and flag anything like an unrated box or a missing neutral.

  2. 02

    Flat-rate price

Because the scope of the install is clear after the walkthrough, you get a clear written price for the fixtures, any new boxes or runs, and high-ceiling access before we start.

  3. 03

    Boxes, wiring and access

We replace or add code-rated boxes, fish wiring for any new locations, and bring the right lift or access for tall foyer and stairwell work.

  4. 04

    Installation and leveling

We hang and wire each fixture, set it level and at the right height, and tie it to its switch or dimmer so each lighting layer is controlled on its own.

  5. 05

    Testing and cleanup

We test every fixture and control, check that dimmers run quiet and flicker-free with your bulbs, clean up and walk you through what changed.

What you get

What is included

Every lighting installation job from Magnify Electric includes the same standards, start to finish.

  • A code-rated box sized and secured for the actual weight of each fixture.
  • Correct mounting, leveling and height so chandeliers and pendants hang true.
  • Proper grounding and tidy, secure wire connections at every fixture.
  • Lift or ladder access for foyer, stairwell and vaulted-ceiling installs.
  • Switch and dimmer wiring so each lighting layer is controlled separately.
  • A free 54-point safety check while we have the fixtures and covers off.
  • Haul-away of the old fixtures and packaging, plus a cleanup of the space.
What drives the price

Cost factors

We give you a flat-rate price after we see the job. These are the things that move that number up or down.

Ceiling height and access

A flush mount in an eight-foot room is a quick swap, while a chandelier in a two-story foyer or over a stairwell needs lift access and more time, which is the biggest driver on tall-ceiling homes.

Existing box vs. new location

Replacing a fixture on a sound box is straightforward. Adding a light where there is no box means fishing wiring, cutting in a box and adding a switch leg, which adds labor.

Fixture weight and type

Heavy chandeliers, multi-pendant runs and under-cabinet lighting each need different boxes, supports or low-voltage supply, so the fixtures you choose shape the work.

Number of fixtures and zones

A single swap prices differently than a whole-room plan with several fixtures and separate dimming zones, and we quote the full scope up front.

Who we help

We light custom Hill Country homes around Spicewood, Lakeway and Horseshoe Bay where tall foyers and stairwells call for proper lift access, remodels in Westlake and Bee Cave that need vanity, sconce and under-cabinet updates, and new builds in Leander and Liberty Hill where owners want pendants centered over a kitchen island and a real layered plan rather than one overhead fixture.

Chris and Caden did a great job of installing a dedicated circuit and outlet for us. They were very thorough in checking out the existing circuit outlets and also patient with explaining everything before starting. I appreciated especially the quality of their work, their professionalism, and their willingness to throw in extra work where they saw fit at no charge. In short, I couldn’t be happier about the job they did.

FAQ

Lighting installation questions, answered

Can you hang a heavy chandelier in a two-story foyer or over a stairwell?

Yes, high-ceiling foyers and stairwells are a regular job for us. We bring the lift or access the height needs instead of working off a ladder on the stairs, and we confirm the box and support are rated for the fixture's weight before it goes up. We set it level and at the right height for the space.

I bought my own light fixture. Will you install it?

Yes. We install fixtures you have already purchased and check that the box can carry the weight and that the wiring and switch are right for it. If your fixture is heavier than the existing box is rated for, we will replace the box so it is mounted safely.

Can you add a light where there is no fixture now, like over my kitchen island?

Yes. We fish wiring from a nearby circuit, cut in a code-rated box and add the switch, then center the pendant or fixture where you want it. We confirm the circuit has room on the load first so adding the light does not overload a breaker.

What is layered lighting and do I need it?

Layered lighting means combining ambient light that fills the room, task light where you work, and accent light for depth, each on its own control. It keeps a room from being one harsh overhead or too dim, and it is worth planning during a remodel or new build. We map the fixtures and dimming zones so you can set the mood room by room.

Can you put in under-cabinet lighting in my kitchen?

Yes. Under-cabinet lighting gives you real task light on the counter for cooking and prep, and we run the supply, hide the wiring and tie it to its own switch or dimmer. We can add it during a remodel or into an existing kitchen, and we will talk through line-voltage versus low-voltage for your cabinets.

How much does light fixture installation cost?

It depends on ceiling height and access, whether we are reusing an existing box or adding a new location, the weight and type of fixture, and how many fixtures and zones are involved. We give you a flat-rate price after the walkthrough, and you approve it before we start.

My new light fixture flickers or the dimmer hums. Can you fix that?

Usually yes. Flicker and hum often come from a dimmer that is not matched to the bulbs or from a loose connection at the fixture, and we check both. We make sure the dimmer and your LED bulbs work together so the light runs smooth and quiet.

Do you install recessed can lights or outdoor fixtures too?

Those are their own pages. Recessed can lighting has its own install considerations, and exterior and landscape fixtures involve weatherproofing and different runs, so we cover each separately. For this service we focus on interior fixtures, chandeliers, pendants, sconces, vanity and under-cabinet lighting, and we can point you to the right page for the rest.
