Electrician in The Hills, TX

Behind the gates of The Hills, custom homes sit on hillside lots around a Jack Nicklaus golf course, and that setting shapes nearly every electrical job we do here: long landscape-lighting runs down sloped yards, pool and outdoor-kitchen circuits, and whole-house control systems that have to be wired cleanly the first time.

Many of these homes went up from the 1980s and 1990s onward as the community grew next to Lakeway near Lake Travis, so you will find a mix of original service panels and wiring alongside newer additions, pool houses and smart upgrades. Each one has its own quirks, and we diagnose the real cause before we quote.

We are a licensed, family-owned team based in Spicewood, and we serve The Hills from our Spicewood base. For troubleshooting, a diagnostic fee covers finding the cause, then you get optional, flat-rate repair pricing to approve, along with text-message updates and a crew that respects a gated, HOA-governed neighborhood.

Wiring built for The Hills

The Hills, also known as The Hills of Lakeway, is an upscale, gated golf community of custom homes on hillside lots, many with pools, outdoor living areas and automated systems. On sloped properties the electrical work often lives outside the house: landscape and path lighting on long low-voltage runs, pool and spa equipment on dedicated GFCI circuits, and outdoor-kitchen and lighting loads that add up quickly on an older service.

Because the community is incorporated as the Village of The Hills, building and electrical permits run through the Village rather than the county, and we pull the permit and handle the inspection so your work is signed off correctly. Much of The Hills is served by Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC), and we coordinate any meter, disconnect or reconnect work with the utility as part of a service change.

Homes built in the 1980s and 1990s can be due for attention: original panels, undersized services for today's pool, EV and smart-home loads, and branch wiring that deserves a look. We run a load calculation before recommending a panel or service upgrade so the fix matches how you actually use the house.

What we do here

Electrical services in The Hills

Why The Hills calls us

Licensed, local and upfront

We work in gated, HOA communities

The Hills is gated and governed by HOA rules, and we schedule, access and work in a way that respects the neighborhood and keeps the community guidelines in mind.

We handle Village of The Hills permits

Electrical permits here run through the Village of The Hills, not the county. We pull the permit and handle the inspection so your service change or new circuits are properly closed out.

Built for upscale custom homes

Pool and outdoor-living circuits, landscape lighting on hillside lots, Lutron and whole-house automation are everyday work for us, not a special request.

Diagnostic fee, then flat-rate options

We charge a diagnostic fee to find the issue on a troubleshooting call, then present optional flat-rate repair pricing for you to choose. A planned install is quoted flat-rate up front, with no hourly meter on a large hillside custom home.

Licensed and insured

TECL 29321 and TX Master License 269417, with every job done to the current National Electrical Code.

Family-owned, serving from Spicewood

We have been a family-owned contractor since 2012, based in Spicewood, and we serve The Hills and the wider Lake Travis area from that one shop.

Worth a call

Signs it is time to call an electrician

Landscape or path lighting is cutting out

On long low-voltage runs down a sloped lot, voltage drop, a failed transformer or moisture at a connection can dim or kill sections. It is worth tracing before more fixtures go dark.

Your panel is from the 1980s or 1990s and feels overloaded

Added pool equipment, a spa, EV charging or a kitchen remodel can push an original service past what it was sized for. A load calculation tells you whether an upgrade is needed.

A pool or outdoor outlet keeps tripping

Outdoor and pool circuits trip for a reason. Moisture intrusion, a worn GFCI device or an equipment fault are common causes near water and should be diagnosed, not reset and ignored.

Chris and Caden did a great job of installing a dedicated circuit and outlet for us. They were very thorough in checking out the existing circuit outlets and also patient with explaining everything before starting. I appreciated especially the quality of their work, their professionalism, and their willingness to throw in extra work where they saw fit at no charge. In short, I couldn’t be happier about the job they did.

Chris and Caden were awesome - they installed an entire new main panel and a new subpanel very effectively. We knew exactly what to expect at every step in the process, and now everything is up to code! If we need any additional electrical work, we will absolutely call Magnify Electric.

Felt lucky to have found Magnify Electric. Christian fixed the issue we were having with our hardwired smoke alarms, installed a whole-house surge protector, and fixed a longstanding light switch issue. He did everything with excellence and efficiency. He did a great job of communicating throughout the process. Thanks so much!

FAQ

Electrician in The Hills: common questions

Do you work inside the gates in The Hills of Lakeway?

Yes. We regularly work in gated communities like The Hills of Lakeway. Just give us the gate details when you book and we handle access and scheduling so the visit goes smoothly for you and the neighborhood.

Who is my electric utility in The Hills?

Much of The Hills is served by Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC). On a service change we arrange any disconnect, reconnect or meter work with your provider so a panel upgrade behind the gates is not held up.

Do I need a permit for electrical work in The Hills?

For work that requires it, such as a service change, a panel upgrade or new circuits, permits and inspections run through the Village of The Hills. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection so the job is signed off correctly.

Can you handle lighting and power for my pool and outdoor living area?

Yes. We install wet-rated landscape, path and facade lighting on hillside lots and wire pool, spa and outdoor-kitchen equipment on dedicated, GFCI-protected circuits sized for the distance from the panel.

My home is from the 1990s. Does the panel need upgrading?

It depends on how you use the house. Many homes built here in the 1980s and 1990s were never sized for today's pool equipment, EV charging and smart systems. We run a load calculation and only recommend a service or panel upgrade if the numbers call for it.

Can you install Lutron and whole-house automated lighting?

Yes. We install and program Lutron dimming, keypads and shades, and we set up whole-house automated lighting and scenes so indoor, patio and landscape lighting work from one app or keypad.

I smell burning or see sparking at my panel. What should I do?

Treat that as urgent. If it is safe to do so, shut the power off at the main breaker, keep everyone clear, and call 911 if there is any fire or smoke. Then call us at 512-731-0868 so a licensed electrician can find the cause before power goes back on.

How does your pricing work?

For a repair where the cause is unknown, a troubleshooting fee covers diagnosing the system, then you get optional, flat-rate repair pricing to approve so you can decide whether to proceed. When the scope is set, like a lighting or automation install, you get a flat rate from the start, and financing is available on larger projects.
